Did anyone apply for the Clerical officer positions for Cork/Kerry/Tipperary that were advertised on Publicjobs.ie?

I'm signed up for e-mail alerts for publicjobs and I received this e-mail on the 5th of June.

""You registered to be notified when new jobs were posted under the category:
    Clerical/Services Posts - Clerical.

A new position is due to be advertised on 31/05/2007 and can be viewed at that
time by selecting the link below.

    https://www.publicjobs.ie/cand/jobdetails_eng.asp?JobID=2529&hdnJobID=1549""

I clicked on the link and tried to apply for the Job. I couldn't complete the application at the time owing to browser problems on my computer. This was Tuesday, I decided to leave the application till the weekend when I was going home to my parent's house. When I tried to apply over the weekend I discovered that the closing date had passed.

I could have sworn that I saw the 21st as the closing date on the webpage but thats somewhat beside the point at the moment.

2 issues here: 1) The job was up on the website for a very short period of time. and 2) I received the e-mail informing me about the job 3 days before the close date.

I rang the publicjobs.ie helpline about all this. I asked first what the closing date for applications was. The Girl on the phone first said the 21st but thyen corrected herself and said the 8th (probably a genuine slip of the tounge).

I then rang Cork Co council and Limerick Co. Council to see if they would be employing anyone from this competition. The Lady in Cork wasn't sure and the Lady in limerick said Limerick CoCouncil were running a seperate competition. I rang revenue and they weren't sure at all whether they would be getting any clerical officers from publicjobs! Revenue did tell me however that they wouldn't have advertised the post on their own website anyway and that it would be advertised exclusively by publicjobs.ie.

I rang the publicjobs.ie helpline again and asked them was it normal to have such a short window for applications. They said that it was (My experience has been that these kind of posts are usually up for about 2-3 weeks), I asked them why I received the e-mail so late and they said it was an automated system and that the bank holiday might have delayed it (even though the the job was posted on the previous thursday! [31/5]).

Has anyone else been caught out by this. By the sounds of things I wasn't the only one. The way in which they conducted this was shambolic to say the least. I got the address to send off a letter of formal complaint but seeing as there is absoloutely no way of getting late applications in I don't know what good sending a letter will do.
