Watched this again for the first time since the cinema release and was blown away for the second time. A coming of age 'thriller' (I use the term lightly) which is a hybrid of Deliverance and Stand By Me, this is truly American cinema at it's most exciting. I don't want to give the way the plot, but Ill just say it is a distressing account of six teenagers setting off on a boat journey. The characters are entirely credible, and the audience consistently is torn between emotions, to create a consistently unnerving but utterly compelling watch. Shocking and emotional, with an uneasy score to match, the conflict between the characters really sucked me in With the cinemas packed full of blockbusters at the moment, I highly recommend this to those who have yet to see it.
    Opinions?

saw it when it originally came out and loved it. definitely worth a rent for anyone who hasn't seen it. sucks you in from the start, and then plays with your emotions all the way through.

you're guarintee'd to relate to at least one of the characters, too...

Haven't seen it since first watching it over 2 years ago... to re-iterate (or more precisely quote what i said then:
    Excellent excellent film!!

Amazing performances from all the cast... but especially Rory Culkin, Scott Mechlowicz (surname something to that effect) and an absolutely astounding performance from Josh Peck.

Looks pretty good but I thought the trailer showed way too much of the movie. I hope there's more in it that wasn't shown.
I'm afraid the trailer shows basically what happens throughout the course of the film. But the actors in it all are such pro's... and show that with each of their personal display's of grief and the mental breakdown they go through.

Anyways.. the trailer does show a LOT! But the film probably has some of the best performances i've seen from young new actors in a LONG LONG time. What i liked best about it was the constrast the very dark and sombre second-half had in comparison to the lighthearted fun and frolics in the first half.

Once again... look out for Josh Peck. For a teenager who has mainly acted in light-hearted kids TV shows, it's a real shocking standout performance!

If it's on in your local cinema: go see it! But i'd like to say to anyone expecting to go to this film expcting something really exciting.. this film is not a thriller... more of a coming-of-age drama with very dark undertones!

Anyways, to summarise: BRILLANT!... another one of my favourite's from last year!
