Didnt use bulb, its not on the camera I have - Kodak dx7590.
Lens open for 16 sec on f4.5, iso80.

There is a bit of luck. Firstly it wasnt raining which was good,
and secondly the lens was pointing in the right place at the right time.

    obviously!
just point a camera at the sky for 16 sec and catch some lightning - of course it's lucky...
maybe inappropriate use of the smilies :) instead of  - was trying (and obviously failing) to be a bit sarcastic...
    will try harder :)

    I don't believe in luck.
The guy did everything to try and capture this image and he had some success.
I tried to do it in the UK, where they get better thunder storms, but the rain made it almost impossible.
Before I knew it, I had spent an hour & 40 minutes, sitting on my balcony, in a thunder storm, hanging onto a metal tripod, with nothing to show for it.

I have no new "persona". And yet again you drag a thread off topic with a personal attack. Kudos to you.

And to clarify, I was not saying the photo was blind luck, I was saying that blind luck is not a sign of a great photographer.

Who says having the lens pointed the right direction at the right time is a matter of luck? Do you not hold your camera when you're taking photos?

Great shot, love the colours and the hint of rooftops and chimneys at the bottom gives it a great domestic context.
