Change of ownership - how long does it take?

Hi all,

i've bought an used scooter and I'm wating now for three weeks to get the ownership change confirmed from Dept of Enviroment in Shannon. The old driver and me were filling out the form he got from Shannon. This was 3 weeks ago and still no sign...

Is this normal???

No need to say that i'm driving untaxed as i can't pay it because i need to have the papers in my name. their fault!

did the owner post the form in your presence?
it shopuld take no more than 10 working days but in reality (for me) was 6 days
dealer or prviater sale?

its taken me more than 6 weeks on 3 occasions to get the paperwork back, give them a shout in shannon and they can tell you if the bike is now in your name

And after the purchase were you all waiting until you were getting your tax disk or were you just driving? I've been so desperate I got insured immediately and driving since then. Should i ever get stopped by the cops I blame Shannon.

Just an update: the reg cert arrived yesterday. took 3.5 weeks

Does anyone know where you get the change of ownership form from? Is it dept of motoring or what? I really dont feel like queuing another 3 hours just to get a form...

AFAIK Garda stations or libraries have all forms available
