DivX Issue?

    Hey Guys,

I've been browsing the DivX files on their site and I seem to be having an issue playing back the files. DivX files will play fine locally on my computer, but when I try to view them on the net through their own website it just says 'Connecting' the whole time. I have the web player installed so I have no idea what's going on. It was working the last time I tried it and now it simply isn't.

I'm using Vista Ultimate and IE7 if it's any help, I've also updated to the latest version of DivX.

Working for me on Vista x64 running on IE7 (32bit) though it causes Aero to switch off for some odd reason and I had to say yes to installing an activex control despite installing the web player plugin.

After that it said connecting, then went to buffering and played.

Are you doing this from home or work?
If it's work (or school, college), chances are they have a proxy which may well cause problems for streaming due to either authentication issues or port blocking.

Is that the web player that comes as part of the DivX download?
I'm using it at home, so shouldn't be a problem. It's working OK in Firefox so it seems to be an IE issue.

Ehhhhhhh............. if they come down as windows updates then an absolute yes. If I need to download them manually then no.

The plugin behaved quite odd for me even though the web player plugin was installed it still wouldn't register on DivX's site, after dismissing the prompt to install the player (again) and then clicked the toolbar to allow the active-x control did the player work.

Is Firefox set as the default browser if so try setting IE as the default and reinstall the web plugin.
