Hi i'm setting up a band orchestra thing. I've already played with this band for 2 years as a progressive rock/ slightly classic rock band, but we've decided to take a new direction. We play all originals. Main Influences:

    PINK FLOYD
    King Crimson
    Mike Oldfield
    Velvet Underground
    Steve Reich
    Santana
    Beach Boys
    Arcade Fire
    Led Zeppelin
    Doors

I myself play piano, lead guitar, saxophone, mandolin, melodica and harmonica, but our current setup is:

    guitar/mandolin and vocals
    rhythm guitar
    bass and vocals
    mellotron and vocals
    male lead vocals
    female lead vocals
    melodica
    glokenspiel
    violin

    We're looking for:

    -a new drummer
-a percussionist (timpani, congas and big cymbals)
    -a french horn player

South Dublin area, we're all 18-19yrs, thanks

Don't suppose you'd have any samples of what you'd be playing?

What requirements would a drummer need (apart from the obvious kit, time keeping ability, experience and transport)?

hey man, we recorded loads of stuff last summer but the laptop with everything crashed and we lost it all so we got no recordings at de moment, but we're kinda like a mix between 'darkside of the moon', 'the rain song' and 'tubular bells' but with catchy tunes with a kick and harmonies and the like, its kinda art rock with a slightly mainstream appeal
In terms of drummers, we're not picky, anyone that can keep time and understand what we're doin and react to the music. sound interesting?

    very.

Just for future reference with the recording thing, an external hardrive is the saviour of many men. Friends computer crashed and my computer crashed, both with VAST quantities of music on them, but we'd managed to backup all music onto externals. Strongly recommend one for the future.

In terms of the musical structure itself, are we talking layered harmonies, odd-time sigs, syncopation etc or chilled out orchestral arrangements with groove underneath or something akin to metropolis pt1 by Dream Theater?

Just so you know, I'm pretty good but nothing spectacular on the kit so I mightn't be of the skill level required. I've been told by various drummers and musicians that I play very intuitively, take from that what you will. Also I'm wrapping up my LC in the next few days, partying, then I'm off inter-railing for July. So I mightn't be the best man for the job, but your ad caught my attention so I figured I'd ask.

    Best of luck regardless
