    Hey folks,

I recently purchased hosting from godaddy and I can't get anywhere with it. I bought a domain name as well and tying them up doesn't seem to be anyway intuitive.

Has anyone any links that walk through the steps involved??

Anyone know how I can tie in the domain name I bought with the hosting account?

    Thanks,
    Barber.

Sometimes it's gotta be done to get the problem fixed..

I'm in Ireland too but I have incredibly cheap intl. calls.

Have you tried their Help Center?

It's not Skype but it is VOIP.

i did similar last summer, took me about 2 weeks of fiddling, as once you chance a setting it takes about 2 days to actually update and work.

here are the steps that i was emailed by one of their guys
Here are the steps you will need to take.

    1. First, login to your account:

. Go to the Go Daddy Account Login Page.
. Log in using your account username (which may be the same as your customer number) and password.

If you have trouble logging in, our password reset form may help you. You can find this form through the following link:

Once logged in just follow these steps:

. Select 'Web Hosting & Databases' from the 'Hosting & Email' menu.
. Click on the name of the hosting account.
. You will see the IP address under 'Hosting Account' details on the right of the screen.
. Make note of this IP address.
. Click on the 'My Account' link near the top of the screen.
. Select "Manage Domains" from the "Domain Names" menu at the top of the page.
. Check the box next to the domain or domains you wish to alter.
. Click the '+' next to Total DNS control under 'Domain Details.'
. Click the 'Total DNS Control and MX Records'
. Only modify the '@' record by changing to the new IP address.
    . Save changes.

. Allow 48 hours for the changes to take effect*

You will also need to modify your nameservers. To modify your nameservers (DNS), please use the following instructions:

    First, log into your account:

. Go to the Go Daddy Account Login Page
. Log in using your account username (which may be the same as your customer number) and password

If you have trouble logging in, our password reset form may help you. You can find this form through the following link:
    Password Reset Form

Once logged in just follow these steps:

. Select "Manage Domains" from the "Domain Names" menu at the top of the page
. Check the box next to the domain or domains you wish to alter
. Click 'Set Name servers' from the menu.
. If you have selected multiple domains click the 'Click here to Enable Fields' link under the warning.
. Click Custom Nameservers and enter them in the spaces provided.
. When complete, click "Save Changes"
. Allow 48 hours for the changes to take effect*

    Propagation Note:

Changes to the settings of a domain take up to 48 hours to become effective because of the number of networks involved, and because these networks are controlled by several different agencies. This delay applies to all domains with any Registrar, not just Go Daddy. Please allow for this delay when planning web sites or configuring a domain to work with your services.

Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.
