Betting out of turn ruling query?

In the tourneys ive been overseeing the last few months our rule on betting out of turn was as follows:
If a player bets out of turn that bet stands and he is obliged to put his chips in etc. but he cannot subsequently raise or re raise.
e.g. 1. player in late position checks out of turn, utg, who had yet to act bets and evryone else folds, then the out of position player can only call this bet not raise as he had originally checked.

e.g. 2. Player out of turn says raise, utg, who has yet to act calls BB, then out of turn player has to raise.

    Are we correct???

yup seems correct. When you say "cannot subsequently raise or reraise" I am taking it that you mean on that round of betting. On later streets he can raise (presuming he acts in turn!)

The player who is forced to raise in example 2 must at least make a complete raise, though he can raise any amount MORE then that, ie he is not restricted to a "double the previous bet" but he must raise in one way or another.

    DeV.

Yes, only applies to the street he acts out of turn on.

well ye are better to have yere own rules on this issue but if u were playing in ept event the rule is different a. if a player bets, raisesor calls out of turn the bet stands . b. if the player who should have acted first chooses to bet more than the out-of -turn bet .the player who acted out of turn can either make up the difference to call.or take back his betand fold or reraise. u can find thes rules on www.ept.com rules and regulations page . but it is up to yourself wat ye do in your own touries .some tourie directors have there own rules so it is the best way to find out them when u play in some different casino or touries that u play in
