Looking for information on all the Dr Who companions

For a start a complete list would be nice but further more I'm looking for information or preferably a resource that tells me things like how long they were in the show, a bit about each one, etc. Even Wikipedia offered little help and I've already done the obvious thing, searching for the information through search engines but couldn't find anything like this, there were references to books but that's a little too much for me. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated! As a fan of the show I already know many of the companions but not all and I've even forgotten some of what I knew.:o
