Prices seem too good to be true, no contact telephone number, a whois on the domain says it is only there since the end of May.. However, a colleague tells me he is buying a 400d from them, and I don't want to see him conned. Anyone heard anything about them, good or bad? Is there a way for me to check if they are legitimate?

They're wholesalers, by the looks of it, which would account for the cheap prices. Not sure how your buddy is buying from them, but I'd contact them by e-mail anyway.

Dunno. generally if it seems too good to be true then it is. 390 for a 400d w/ lens and 4gb card seems too good to be true.

According to the security certificate, he's based in gloustershire in England. If it turns out to be true, let us know, coz I'm getting one at that price!!

Be very wary, they only accept Moneygram as payment and this method is not recommended for purchases. Had to use Moneygram twic ein past 10 days to get cash to someone on holiday who lost wallet.

Moneygram will not refund in case of non delivery.

If they did those prices it'd nearly be worth heading over to Northwood Office Park, Santry Desmesne, Santry Dublin 9 to pick one up.

    Acc the website tho

"All products are brand new, manufacturer sealed, with full European warranty. We accept MoneyGram only. No credit cards, no COD."

Sounds like a dodgy scam to me. Anyplace that offers prices that are 'too good to be true' and refuses to accept CCs or (in the ebay case) paypal is suspect. Demanding moneygram only , or bank transfers, or other similiar payment methods is like waving a big red flag ...

hokay, so just checked the site, and he's offering the stuff at almost HALF PRICE ???!?!? Steer clear ! I'm half tempted to notify the consumer affairs office aswell. This is very obviously a scam.

@cambo_gueno, thats the cert of whatever e-commerce site they're using to run transactions
through. I also did a whois, to no avail. The domain is held by what looks like some third party
    company in New Zealand (!)

Thanks for the feedback, folks.. it screamed 'con' to me, which I did say to him from the outset. He's already placed the order, but no money has changed hands, so there's time to get out yet. Will tell him tomorrow to avoid this like the plague!

Its probably pointless though, The addresses are probably fake, the registrar is in a different country, and the actual registrant is untraceable. The most they might be able to do is persuade the e-commerce company in the UK to block any transactions but even that might be well-nigh impossible without actual proof that its a dodgy scam.

Maybe, just maybe it's genuine:confused: but still find it hard to believe that I can pick up a Nikon D 80 with 18-135mm Lens and 2Gb card for less than half retail price.

now that just IS bizarre ! Unless they're knocked off ... or dodgy factory copies ... or something ... or you wander up there with a pocket full of cash and wake up in estonia somewhere WITHOUT YOUR SHOES ... Hard to tell.

... wake up in estonia somewhere WITHOUT YOUR SHOES ...

My shoes would be the least of my worries!

Speaking of Estonia, I have beautiful prints from Tallinn.
Must try to get them scanned.

Back to the topic, is anyone in a position to suss these guys out?
