    Hi

Im considering buying a new car and am looking at the Ford Focus ST. On carzone (http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carid=698663) this car is priced at 13600 while others of the same engine capacity, year etc all are alot more expensive.

Does anyone know why this is (and no, its not the colour :D )????

    Tyty

VRT will add to the price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 766 ✭✭✭mkdon05

its cheaper because its an English import, so you would have to clear the Vehicle Registration tax on it with the Revenue.

very good value or a scam

I doubt it will be that chaep even on UK PLATES

ye I thought that, but the seller of the car would still have paid alot more than €13k (or equiv in £££) and will be making a massive loss won't he?

Like I mean VRT will only fall on me, not him, so why would he sell the car so cheaply???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,718 ✭✭✭whippet

miss print !!! or else it is Mr John who is desperatly trying to sell to and will ship car to your nominated address on reciept of your western union cash payment.

More than likely the seller meant €36000 .. which is a bit steep.

9000GBP would be closer to the currency exchange.

What's the deal with those phone numbers? Surely international numbers would have two zeros before them? Or are they Norn Iron numbers?

The dialling code for Liverpool (within the UK) is 0151.
From here it would be 0044151

Now marked "Sold". That car is worth €30k+ btw.

Fantastic cars. The colour is not for the faint hearted, although it was an expensive extra.

there are loads in that colour on Autotrader uk. I'd imagine there are a couple here too. Plus. If some guy in Eastern Europe is pulling a scam, I doubt he's going to travel over here with a real car to take pics. He probably nicked the pics off a different ad/website.

More than likely stolen photos, very unlikely that there is a real Focus ST at the other end of that phone line.

    received from the seller:
    Hi,

I must apologize for the delay in response, but I'm literally overwhelmed by the number of offers. I have recently relocated to Slovenia for business. The Focus is here as well. I can and will arrange transportation to UK.

As you probably noticed, the price is rather low. But since it's a right hand drive car, not even a dealer will offer me a better price here. The fact that it's still UK registered did not help either. Genuine reason for sale: my business didn't work out the way I planned. Due to amount involved, I only accept bank transfers or third party transaction mediator.

I am the registered keeper and there is no outstanding finance on the vehicle. The car is in excellent condition, the bodywork is immaculate, no scratches, dents or hidden defects as well as the interior in excellent non-smoking condition. I am willing to let the 2006 FORD FOCUS ST-3 go for £ 9,200 GBP.

Please get back to me and let me know if you wish to proceed on this basis.
    Cheers !
    Christopher.

So has anybody contacted carzone about these jokers?

They really need to add a 'report this ad [for phishing/scamming]' link.

Car tax 962 euro per year. A few cc lower and it would have been 821 euro/year.

An extra €140 p.a. in road tax is the least of your worries.

Only getting to read this thread now.

I actually found my own car up for sale on Carzone.ie for an amazing €12,500 (it's an 03 325 Ci circa €30k). Impressed I a friend wrote to the seller and got the exact same response - complete scam.

I contact carzone.ie about this to report the fraud but notice that they've no contact details on the website or registered company names, etc (completely illegal) - anyhow they didn't really give a sh1te and didn't remove the ad.

You'd think they'd at least black list the credit card numbers used to pay for the ads on line
