Me bass is broke! :(

About to do a gig on Saturday, soundcheck went fine. We come up onstage to play, I plug in tuner and bass, and I get nothing from the amp. Take out tuner and plug directly in... Still nothing. One of the other bands were well decent enough to lend me a bass so the show went on. I was majorly pissed (as you can well imagine) but when I took it home plugged into my own amp, same story. Can anyone recommend someone to have a look at it quickly? I'm playing 5 more gigs this month and rehearsing as well! I have no idea about electrics etc. so I won't try anything in case I could **** it up even more.

Where abouts are you based? Most guitar shops would have a look for you.

If you're getting no output, it sounds like one of the wires to the output jack is gone. You could open it up and have a look.

Tis probably a simple soldering job but if you can't handle it just throw it into a music shop as was suggested.

If the bass is active - do try sticking a new battery into it.

Also, to confirm, have you tried a different lead that you know works?

If the above don't match or help, then the chances are there is just a small wire disconnection and it shouldn't be a big problem to fix it.

Sounds like the solder in the jack connection is gone.

Happened to my Maverick F1 a year or so ago, it was one of the wires in the output jack like people above said but it had actually just "broken" off. Reckon it got a tap when the cable was in or something and knocked it loose.

Quick solder had it up and running and no bother since
