    Prize pool doesn't matter.

    Blinds 100/200, stacks c. 5,000 (me), c. 9,000 (him).

Some info on him: He's not new to poker but lacks a bit of sense some times but has a grasp of most of the fundamentals. Has a habit of playing with nothing, and there have been about 6 times in the past few days he's put me all-in on the river only for me to make the wrong decision (twice I was ahead, four times behind).

His range is really anything, as he "likes to see a flop".

I get A8 in the big blind and after a limp from him I raise to 700. He min-raises to 1400 and I call.

He's been reading a bit about poker and from talking I gather that he's doing this to try and get me to think he has a strong hand, AK or a big pair. I don't believe him.

    Flop comes 8 Q Jr (pot 2800)

    I bet 1200, he calls.

    Turn is 5d (pot 5200)

I check expecting him to bet and leaving me to CRAI, but he checks behind.

    River is Jd. (pot 5200)

I check, he bets enough to put me all-in (2400).

Check behind could suggest a flush draw, and there's also a possible straight out there.

He gives a bit of speech play and says he'll show if I fold. (this to me would suggest I'm ahead, as he's happy to rub it in if I fold.)

A tenner isn't much, but I've lost at least 5+ games to this guy even though I feel I'm a better player. He's been getting luck (AK vs 86 aipf for example).

    His cards surprised me.

KT is maybe the only viable hand he should have there that you beat. I don't know why you make the hero call here? Also, I like the way you make it sound like your are some modern Johnny Moss and he is the Nick "The Greek" Dandelos by saying that he has bluffed you all in about 6 timees in the last few days.

    I'd guess a Q and a 9 offsuit

He could have anything, and his whole range is pretty much ahead of you.
I'm guessing he had a strong hand, JJ-AA,
you appear to be trying to convince yourself that he keeps bluffing and doesn't have a hand, then when he has a hand he got lucky.
