First GAA match tonight, what do I need? :o

I got boots and socks,I presume they'll supply jersey and shorts.

I was thinking of maybe getting gloves but I hate goalie gloves as they're too big, any other suggestions?

If you want gloves, get the mikasa ones (yellow with black spots). I wouldn't bother with them myself. Be prepared for the physical nature of it if you havent played before.

Get a pair of shorts just in case. The club usually hand them out to the players to keep at the start of the year or maybe before the championship starts.

bring shorts!! as was said above, shorts are in "short supply" by clubs at time. you might wanna purchase a gum-shield, although if you havnt played with one before, dont do it tonight as it takes getting used to but a good habit to get into. good luck with it!! elverys and puma and oneills do good tight fitting gloves for around 15-20 euro that might be bit better than the mikasa ones, maybe for your next game :o

If it is dry you won't need gloves, only really need them when it is wet. Definitely buy shorts.

You'll prob be alright in the actual going for the ball stuff. It's the off-the-ball slaps and digs and pushing and shoving stuff you don't see while watchin that'll get you. Also one of the worse things IMO is falling from height can really fcuking wind you!!

Kenny, I'd pay the gate fee just to see you play, ya big pussy! Who are you playing for?

If you want gloves, stay away from Goalie gloves. O'Neills/Elverys do really good pairs, go into Elverys to get some. They're like tight fitting goalie gloves. Speaking as a fielder, those mikasa gloves are a heap of crap if the ball is really wet. Definitely get some of those Elverys/O'Neills ones (although be prepared to shell out a few quid for 'em - think I paid about 35 quid for mine).

Also, moulded studs are a must for the summer. Couldn't find my mouldies last weekend, first time I've played in a 6-stud boot on bone ground in a while, and my feet are feeling it (skin torn in a few places) and I lost a stud. Won't be making that mistake again!

Yo.....didn't get on the pitch. Twas my first outing with them so glad I didn't get to play. Had training thursday and saturday. Legs are sore as I'm not used to running on grass.

I'm pretty **** tbh but I need the fitness training so I'm going to stick with it.
