I know how to pronounce the "The" can anyone help with the 2nd part? Is it gill-ah-mots like my mate keeps saying?

Edit. I meant to ask how do you pronounce the guillemots, but I am a moron.

Never heard them before, but I am going to be seeing them at the Damien Rice concert, so I better learn how to pronounce their name. I hear good reviews of their album too.

Same as the bird as far as I know: http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/guillemot

Also there's no 'The' in the name, it's just 'Guillemots' (I'm sure I've saved you from making an embarrassing faux-pas at the concert with that one :)).

Anyone who hasn't heard this band yet should really check them out. Through The Windowpane was one of my favorite albums of last year.

Two of their best tracks didn't feature though...one was a b-side to the single Made Up Love Song #43 called 'Woody Brown River'. The other featured on a limited release EP from last November called 'Rising Tide'. Worth having a listen!

    MOR, Guillemots??

You listening to the same band? I can understand why one might not like Guillemots, but they are not MOR

and its gill (as in a fish's gills) eee, mots (rhymes with dots)

Thats what Fyfe told Tom Dunne anyway.

    http://www.franceswood.net/pidgeon.htm

tells me that it is [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]'Derived from the Old French name Willelm, Guillemot means "Little William" ' . It's also a French last name. So I would pronounce it French style:

Guee-Yuh-mo (Guee as as guitar, mo as in Moses)

and voila, c'est magnifique and fantastique.

    Edit:
    (Garret)
    you smell

    Why thank you. Oink!

Got their album anyway and I think it's great! It took me a few listens to get into, but so did a lot of my favourite albums. It's so atmospheric and powerful. Probably the best album I have heard all year. Definitely recommended.
