Not really seeing much difference between it and Firefox I'm afraid

When it is downloaded does it replace Safari 2?

I'm curios to try it out but I have a couple of Safari addons (Pithhelmet, Safari Stand and inquisitor) that I am not willing to give up.

Yes, and it rocks. You can now send SMS properly from O2.ie, it even supports spellcheck for God's sake on Vodafone.ie.

    Goodbye IE, Firefox and Opera.

Just gave it a shot. Stand and Inquisitor worked but Pithhelmet didn't. Going to stick with Safari 2 for now.

Or Firefox :p I really can't see what Safari offers over it. The most common thing I hear is "Mac look and feel' which you can get in Firefox with extensions

I just gave this a quick spin, very fast to launch and load pages. But I think I'll stick with Camino for now. I'll give it another try after Leopard arrives.

The windows version is quite a surprise. It'll be interesting to see how it works out. Apple realise they can't compete with other browsers for features and are trying to sell Safari as the fastest browser. There's definitely some room for manoeuvre here. But with the imminent release of the iPhone it is probably more about increasing brand awareness and trying to get more sites to support Safari.

Anyone notice a problem when browsing boards.ie? When clicking on a thread with new posts, it will invariably serve the page straight from the cache, with no new posts visible?

Is Safari 3 only so fast because everything is served from the cache?

I've noticed a problem in that it sticks a bit while loading -but the new posts are visible.

On the other hand, I've *always* had a problem with boards.ie......

    I noticed a similar issue.
When I go to awebsite.com/blog and then a website.com/blog/feed, and then later in the evening type in awebsite.com/blog, it automatically brings me to /feed and opens up the page in the RSS reader.

I've downloaded it for both Tiger and XP and is definitely faster. Noticeably faster than Firefox on the XP machine.

using safari now on XP , impressed with speed .. quick question is there a way to get a new tab by clicking a button with the mouse .. used to it in ie7 .. the file menu or ctrl T seems a bit cumbersome :o

Definitely faster and ironically now works much better on boards.ie - like other tabs (with other websites) dont hang when going to a boards page. Only thing is the brilliant Acidsearch plug-in doesn't work. Only a matter of time hopefully.

I have moved back to Safari on my mac. Firefox just started to look and feel stale. Safari 3.0.2 is awesome.
I am sure firefox will make safari look stale in the not to distant future. But for now i am sticking to safari.

I don't know if i will use safari for windows because i don't use windows xp much. I was watching some guy on youtube, he was a windows user and he was very very impressed with safari for windows, but he said, seen as it is a beta he may not keep it, but he loved it.

The big thing that really made me move back to safari was that this guy on youtube ( he has a web site too---- www.howdoimac.com --) he was showing how to put youtube videos onto your ipod and safari only works for it.

I too am loving the Safari experience. I only ever used Firefox to use aerlingus.com and o2.ie because Safari would never let you press P for Paris, for example, to go straight to a city or contact. This has all been corrected and as Firefox bugs the **** out of me, I never want to see it again. Horrible look and feel.
