folks a few weeks ago i was on an indian web page that makes thai boxing gear and i was gonna email them and it started this "finding IP address" thing after i clicked n the email us button... so i closed it down and wasnt able to get onto anymore web pages

It says "Internet explorer is unable to open the search page"

There was also an email in my outlook, which i never use, to this crowd...

If i turn on my norton security or disable it then i can access the net, as i am doing now, but i am afraid i will get some virus.....

has anyone got any ideas what i might try here

    thanks paddy

    I am a little confused.

You say when you turn on or off Norton, you can access the internet.

Do you mean that if you have norton on when you try to connect to the internet it will not connect. If you turn it off then it will connect.

I would not worry about the mail in Outlook Express. When you clicked on the e-mail link on the web page, it probably started your default mail program (Which must have been Outlook Express) Just delete the mail. No harm.

Can you give more details of what happens when you connect to the internet with norton on?

If you meant that you can access the Net when disable Norton
"disable it(Norton Internet Security) then i can access the net"

then surely the Norton Firewall is the cause of your problem? Your best bet is to just uninstall it and use AVG if you can't sort out the settings for Norton.

    thanks for the replies lads

when i disable the norton anti virus I can access the net no sweat

    if

it is enabled i cant and i get the "IE cant open the serach page " msg

the problem is that it was all working fine till i used this page I would be enabled and have access.....

maybe i will play around with the firewall and report back

    thanks paddy
