I'd been looking for a second hand sit-on-top for some time but they are hard to find, so I took the plunge last Friday and bought a new one. It's an RTM Mambo which I bought in Tubes of Limerick. It came with a paddle and roof rack (they had no backrests in stock) for €550, which was a good €30 less than anywhere else I could find.

The Mambo is marketed as an all rounder, i.e. equally good on lakes, rivers and in surf. So far I've tried it in surf and it's been good and it great on a calm river.

    Regards
    AFD

I bought a brand new DAG Kompak in France for EUR300, including paddle. Similar BIC offer in Decathlon.
Put in on the roof bars, and brought it back. Same kayak in Ireland costs EUR500, plus another EUR50 for the paddle.

Of course, you need to know someone driving back with a car, or take the trip yourself. All the other gear needed is also much cheaper in Decathlon.
