Went to Balbriggan markets yesterday, expecting maybe to pick up something for my collection of retro gaming stuff, don't always come away with anything though, but yesterday was a good day.
I found Jaguar XJ220 and Keio Flying Squadron for the MegaCD, I got a boxfresh Megadrive (type 1) boxed and including a perfect Sonic cart, and I also picked up a Nes, a bit scruffy and with no cables or controllers. I already own a Nes but it suffers from that terrible grey blinking disease, popped the new one into the config and bingo, I can play Wild Gunman again!
Yes, yesterday was a good day.

And how much did all that gaming goodness cost I hear you ask?
The MegaCD games plus a load of SciFi books cost €5, the Megadrive with Sonic was €10 and the Nes was €2, although she did try to get €7 from me.

    Not a bad haul really.

Not quite as good as the best ever, last year when I picked up a load of Atari7800 stuff and a boxed 6 switch woody Atari 2600, nice!

Anyone else have any luck at the markets at all?

I've never been to any of these kind of markets but i'm always saying i'll go at some stage. Not too sure where any of them are to be honest...

I gave up on the balbriggan market years ago, never found anything. Must go again since I'm living in Balbriggan so it isn't that far away.

Nice find, Keio Flying Squadron is a real rarity and a great game to boot.

If you are coming from dublin take the second exit off the M1 and head towards Balbriggan. It's in a field only a few metres away from the exit. There should be signs. It's on Sunday mornings.

Oh I cant wait to the old loading screens, playing the emulators just isint the same

Not too sure how your post fits into this thread djsim, maybe keep on topic next time, please?

    Back to the market,
They had a couple of N64s as well, plus a load of old type playstations, wouldn't touch the sonys, probably banjaxxed!
Yup, a nice haul, shouldn't have said anything, now you lot will nip down and buy stuff up first.
Balbriggan is the best of the Sunday markets, at least in the greater dublin area, the airport one at Kart city can be ok but the one at fairyhouse does't have many folk selling from car boots, and so not many good finds to be had.

You never know what you'll find, I'm still watching out for a Colecovision and an Atari Pong machine, could happen, someday....

    .
Probably doing myself out of future bargains by mentioning this , but there is a guy there with a stall full of games :few SMS/NES carts box of meg , box of SNES and a few others mixed in - I picked up a saturn off him cheap enough a while back, think he'd a meg 1 and a few other consoles as well I think.
As I said though its a stall rather than a boot full of "junk" so you mightn't get stuff REALLY cheap from him, also I havent been there in over a month so for all I know he may not work it (fairyhouse) anymore.

I know the guy, he has been selling stuff there for years but,as mentioned above, no real bargains to be had, he charges a fortune for his gear, mostly PS, DC, N64 and a smattering of carts for handhelds and older machines, no, better to go the ebay route than buy there.
Anyway, half the fun is wandering around, perusing peoples piles of tat and finding something extraordinary.

I've got stuff cheap enough from him , and to be honest since most ebayers seem to use the fact we're in Ireland to crank up the postage costs even higher its about the same price wise , but YMMV and all that I guess

I suppose, nasty little surprises those postage costs, especially when you get the item in a standard jiffy bag and find the postage on it nowhere mear approaches the postage you were forced to pay out, although I see now you can rate vendors on such things.

the reason a lot of sellers are selling cheap , but cranking up the p&p price is because ebay only take a percentage of the sales price , not P&P , hence the guys selling stuff from hong kong with a 1p B.I.N and 30 quid shipping !
yeah , having said that there are some decent sellers out there who dont screw us on the prices , guy I bought a few SMS games from recently was decent enough with shipping.
