I as i'm sure as 99% of others who have insurance for their bike probably drive under leisure insurance except for maybe couriers. In saying this, I know your not legally allowed to use your bike for work use so are you legally allowed to drive to work under your insurance??

Also, I live in Kildare and everytime i renew my insurance i'm asked will the bike be used in Dublin. I always say no although of course i do use it about 4 days a week (i think your allowed 2) because of college. I know this is illegal in terms of your insurance but how would they know or would they even ask questions on the subject if you were in an accident and would they pay out then????????

Of course you can. Do you think everyone who drives a car or bike has courier insurance or something!

    Yes.

Huh? How will you explain the bike's presence embedded in a Dublin ditch if you happen to come a cropper in the city? Don't be silly-inform the company that you'll be using it in Dublin. You'll regret it someday if you don't mate. Just not worth the worry. They'd have to pay out the TP if you hit someone but they could quite legally come after you in a civil action to recoup the costs of this as you deceived them on your proposal form.

Seriously, don't even think of trying to be cute with an insurance company. You just won't win.
I gave AON my Tipperary address but as I work in Dublin, I had to declare this.
I think it's called "utmost good faith" as I remember from my secondary school days.

AON told me that only 1 day was allowed

I would check tbo. There is social, domestic and pleasure & then social, domestic, pleasure and commuting.

Well in fairness you could easily argue that you were in Dublin for the day. The insurance company can't really only insure you for 25 counties and specifically exclude another.

As others say though, the principle of "utmost good faith" applies, which requires you to disclose information of importance to the insurer, whether or not they ask for it. Since the insurer has asked for it, it's assumed that this is important information.

Best thing to do is to read the policy documents, and if in doubt, contact them directly. If you are going to change the document, don't admit that you've been driving to Dublin every day for the last while.
