Hard Drive Backup

Had a near miss with my hard drive yesterday. First my computer froze when I tried to open a file, then windows started freezing during loadup, then it only got as far as the BIOS before producing a Disk Error warning. Its okay now but I have realised that I badly need to backup my data.

Can anyone recommend a way of backing up 700 GB of data. I've got a DVD burner but it would take over 150 discs to backup up everything. Is there a better way.

External harddrives are pretty cheap these days. USB, Firewire or NAS.
I'd go for 2 x 500Gb drives or maybe 400Gb if you can get them cheap enough.
They have 1Tb external drives now too, but whatever works out cheapest.
