The Saltees

    I got out to the Great Saltee off Wexford yesterday. Fabulous day. Well worth a visit. Lots of photographers there (the Kilkenny Photographic Society were there in force) and guys with some seriously expensive equipment e.g. a Canon 400mm f/2.8 - a huge lens (and a huge price).

    I've posted some shots on my flickr page.

    Horayy! Somebody else got there too! I see the Puffins are in. I think there were only about two pairs when I was there. Good shots all round.
    I assume you used the 400mm? I gave my 300 to a mate who disappeared off with it for the day. Those long lenses really come into their own in places like this,

    Thanks Roen, and thanks too for your earlier post about the Saltees which put the idea in my head in the first place.

    Yep, I used the 400mm for all the wildlife shots except for a few wideangle ones with the 10-22mm. It's a place that practically demands a long telephoto.
