Which console should I get?

    PS3 or XBOX 360?

I just sold my PS2, have a credit note, and want to get a new console.

    My thoughts:
I'm not that interested in online play.

If I get a PS3 I'll have to wait for months to get PES, FIFA, GTA, GT......but if I get a 360 I can get PES6, FIFA07, Forza, etc.

PS3 is a lot more expensive...

    What should I do?

I think you've answered the question yourself, Xbox 360.

I will probably get the PS3 in a year or two when theres actually a few significant exclusives, but with the range of games and price tag at present I dont see the point.

You're asking this in the Playstation forum, obviously alot of the fanboys are going to list off the good things about the completely dier PS3 at the minute, so ask in the general gaming forum, you'll get more of an unbiased opinion there.

He asked in the Xbox forum too, so a balanced view might surface. Though, it is off to a bad start for the pro-PS3 camp with shortys94's post :D

you can play the PS2 versions on the PS3, and being someone who owns fifa & pro evo on the 360, there really isn't a great difference in the versions anyway.

as for GTA4, you'll be waiting either way, it's due in october (probably later now though...), and there's a free GT thing on the PS3 network with 2 modes and a load of cars, but it's in no way a replacement for PGR or Forza.

    make an educated decision.

if you buy a 360 now you'll be getting more bang for your buck, but will that mean you won't get a ps3 this christmas, when you'll have killzone, mgs and the like hitting shelves?

If you still have ps2 games then get a PS3 they ll keep you going and they are all upscaled and looking better than ever , Pro evo 6 for ps2 is way better than the 360 version which is terrible and reflected in that it can be picked up for 20 euro now they cant give it away .

There isnt really that much of an advantage games wise for xbox all the best game are out or out this month on ps3 ( oblivian , splinter cell , rainbow 6, ghost recon 2 etc )

The ps3 is more reliable , quiter smarter and the games look better , you also have blue ray built in which will allow for massive games on the ps3

At the moment you would be better off with a Xbox 360. The software line up is brilliant and there are plenty of great up and coming titles.

If you can wait I'd hold off until Christmas. The PS3 should have a price drop by then and hopefully the software line up will have improved. Also it will be worth seeing how well it selld around christmas since this Chrimbo will probably decide how this generation will finish up. If the PS3 doesn't sell well expect the PS3 to go the way of the first xbox, very few meaningful exclusives and ports of games from the PS2.
