Wsop Dont Know The Rules

    from pokernews

    A questionable decision

    The blinds are 100/200. Erik Seidel limps in from early position and it is folded around to the small blind, who goes all in for a total of 300.

    James Van Alstyne calls from the big blind and Seidel wants to raise. Van Alstyne says he can't raise, as he has already acted on his hand and the raise he is facing is less than the full amount required to reopen the betting. The floor is called over and rules that the 7 time bracelet winner IS allowed to raise.

    He makes it 1200 and Van Alstyne folds.

    Seidel has {A-Spades}{10-Spades}
    SB shows {K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

    The board reads {J-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{K-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Seidel wins the pot with a broadway straight.

    maybe they say that 100(sb)->200(bb) is a 100 raise. the extra raise to 300 counts as a raise? i think its wrong nevertheless though.

    ~He won the pot though with broadwat straight so it was lucky he raised and he has won a few bracelets too so is obviously the correct ruling...damn yanks.:rolleyes: ~

    they probably went on the the raise was over 50% of the total required raise so it reopened betting

    Congrats, here's nothing!

    Yeah seems a tad odd to be honest. Of course him being a professional obviously affected the decision.

    No. The SB is not considered a bet, its a half-bet. Otherwise UTG could raise to 300, but a min-raise would be 400, even with international rules. The BB is the only bet considered on the table before the cards are dealt. In this scenario the SB can fold, call/complete or raise all-in. IMO, the BB was right that SB's all-in was an under-raise and UTG shouldn't be able to raise pre-flop.

    No. This rule only applies to fixed limit.

    Rule 49 of the WSOP tournamet rules says:

    "In NLHE and PLHE an all-in bet of less than a full raise does not re-open the betting to a player that has already acted."

    You'd hope the TD was sent a copy before hand but it seem's not!
