looking for some advice. In the process of preparing a fairly large piece of ground for a lawn. The ground is level with a good covering of topsoil. Have sprayed weedkilleer to kill off existing grass. Went to hire a rotivator to dig the ground but the guy told me that the hydraulic rotiavtor wouldnt break the ground, that it would be need to be dug with a digger first.

Has anyone any experience of using these. Will they do the job or is a digger required??

I Don't know about hydraulic rotivators but the old petrol driven Merry Tiller would do the job just fine unless you are talking about unusually hard compacted ground.
