Hey guys, thought you'd be able to help me out on this one.
I've preordered the R85 on RSOV and i'd like to buy some additional upgrades for it. (This is my first AEG so please bear with me)

Now according to Arnies review the power is .74 Joules.

Now thats pretty good, but i was wondering what spring (if any) could be used to bump it up to, idealy, just under the limit?

    As in THIS or THIS

I'd also need help with the gearbox construcion etc, but hey, thats at a later stage!

    Thanks in advance.

well the two springs you linked to are the same one, (assume this was an accident!)

but anyway, the ms90 according to this is approx 312fps, so that'll get you close enough to 1joule, but you may get a little less as the aeg used for those tests had other upgrades too

fitting a new spring isn't particularly difficult if your reasonably mechanically minded, there are some good guides on mechbox.com on how to take apart the v2 and v3 gearboxes but im not sure what type the R85 has

looking at the r85, i'd imagine it has a v6-style gearbox, similar to the steyr aug and the p90, still quite easy to work on and from what i've heard, similar to a v3 gearbox with the motor in a different place

Indeed it was, thanks for pointing that out. Fixed it now.

What about the battery aswell? I heard its not great but i also heard its custom sized so no other one would fit, what do you recommend?

the ms120 is a fair bit over the legal limit, so that's a no go

no idea what the stock battery is like, but it's a custom type anyway, so wouldn't say there is many (if any) 3rd party batteries available yet
