I have a 00 civic saloon, I put an ad in the buy and sell and just got 1 call which was not successful.
Would it be worth putting it in the auto trader or cbg or just the local paper?

Personally i'd recomend carzone.ie or adverts.ie, esp carzone, as it is heads above the rest of them ie cbg or autotrader.

also be realistic on the asking price, that could be why nobody's calling. How much are you asking?

I'll take the nearest to €5,000 but dont want to advertise too cheaply.
Is that wise or should I put a lower amount on it?

stick it on carzone that price, wait a while see what the interest is, if none hen gradually drop the price until you start getting interest, if you want rid of it quickly then stick it in really cheap and it'll be gone fairly sharpish

chance it for while as draffodx said, but i get the feeling you'll end up at 4,500-4,750. the saloon isn't as sought after as the hatch

You could always try sticking a For sale sticker on the windows, you would be suprised how much calls these generate, There is a guy on adverts selling them, http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=20023&cat=2 alot cheaper than I got them,

Also if your not using the car now park it up in a prominant place with the for sale stickers on it.

Thing is though that interested people don't know this but will think that there is no way that you would knock close to €700 off the price so most people probably wouldn't even try.

I would drop the price to €5,450 and see how it goes.

Carzone has sold three motors for me, that's all I know. Every time I had to drop the price a little to get a few bites though...

Have always bought and sold through buy annd sell, I've tried auto trader, carzone and the like before, personally I think they are way inferior, just based on my own personel expierinces.

But seriously 5700 for a 00 civic?, I've bought two 00 civic saloons in the last 2 years and paid 4000 and 3800, considering that was one and two years ago I think your being a bit optimistic with the price bud. I know you say you'd drop it down to 5000 but if your determined to get that price you might be better off advertising it for around 5200 and then wwhen they say "the most i'll pay is 4,500" say "listen I had a fella from limerick that said he'd take it for 5100 if i still have it next month when he'll be up here for work" or something along that lines that both of you will know its total bullsh1t and you should easily wrap it up at 4,900 or 5,000, because if they are willing to pay that they obviously aren't shopping around.

I had a car in the buy and sell for ages and i got one text offering me a a 96 ford mondeo for it.. put it on carzone and it was gone and the cash lodged in the bank within a week. Well worth the 30 quid
