Tonight is a chance for Miguel Cotto to really establish himself and put himself into that distinct group of boxers who can be termed elite . To do that he has to get through the inconsistant but sometimes dazzling Zab Judah .

Judah always starts fast but seems to fade as fights go on(seen in his fights with Floyd Mayweather and Carlos Baldomir) , he is 0-2-0-1(the one being a no contest) in his last 3 fights and if he loses here tonight he will be pretty much done at the top level .

Judah is fast , even faster than Mayweather and the speed of Paul Malignaggi gave Cotto problems a little while back . However Judah becomes very conservative when he is hurt and really it is only a matter of time before Cotto is able to shake Judah in the bout .

So for me Judah will win some of the early rounds , Cotto will take control in the middle and stop him late on .

On the undercard we have the highly thought of Super Featherweight Humberto Soto against Manny Pacquiao's little brother Bobby .
Bobby is a little better than his record suggests but I feel Soto will have too much for him . After this fight Soto will possibly get an opportunity against the better Pacquiao and I don't think he'd be out of his depth either , ever if I'd favour Manny . I fancy Soto to stop Bobby Pac late in this fight or win a fairly clear decision .

In a match of Light Middleweight prospect Anthony Thompson faces Belerussian Yuri Foreman . Thompson's sole defeat is to contender winner Grady Brewer while Foreman is unbeaten . it's a hard one to pick but I fancy Thompson on points .

Julio Cesar Chavez jnr is starting to turn into a genuine prospect and tonight he faces Grover Wiley , the man to end his father's career . Well Chavez did quit in the corner after breaking his hand but a win is a win .
Wiley is nothing special and I expect Chavez to get the stoppage at some point .

Now all of the above fights are guaranteed to be shown but this is one i hope they can fit in .

Peter Quillin against Jamal Davis . Quiilin looks like a real good Middleweight prospect and he has a very good punch . Davis I have never seen but he seems to also have a decent dig(albeit his opposition has been quite poor) .
Quillin still has a bit of developing to do but he looks like he could go far in the sport and he is very good to watch . Quillin tko/ko , you can be sure of it .

Couple of other prospects on the card but we're not going to see them and I haven't heard much about them any of them anyway .

Should be a decent night of boxing .

Great fight. Cotto controlled the majority of the fight - Judah had some moments, but other than that - he got smashed all over the ring by Cotto. You've gotta love Cotto's style - nothing fancy, just get's down to business.

beautiful post BIG EARS, ....... I enjoy reading everything you write !! keep em coming.

it happened exactly as you said,..... but cotto did get rocked a few times !!!!

the USA are losing thier place for producing the finest top end fighters,..... the mantle is slowly slipping away.

how do you figure Mayweather would stand against Cotto ?????

that is a fight Mayweather will never take,... 100%.

Cotto is so solid,... so much "push-thru" power in every shot,..... even his jabs were bombs :)

I agree it's a fight Mayweather would like to avoid(maybe not quite ever take).

The thing with Superfights is they are usually pretty much 50/50 and it's very easy to make a case for either fighter winning and how .

To put it simply I don't really know , it could go a couple of ways . In no perticular order:
1.Mayweather is too slick and too fast for Cotto and is able to outbox him and win a wide decision

2.Similarish to Judah fight , speed gives Cotto problems , Mayweather wins(probably all) of the early rounds but Cotto chips away breaks him down and stops him .

3.Same as above but Cotto wins a decision .

4.Cotto's presure gives Mayweather plenty of problems and Mayweather's speed likewise . Kind of like Castillo v Mayweather I except Cotto lands cleaner than Castillo and wins the fight .

Mayweather's refusal to engage makes 1 and 4 the most likely results . I'm edging with Cotto but I feel that may be because I'm biased . I really like Cotto and how he fights and dislike Mayweather for his claims , atitude(well his public persona , I get the impression when cameras aren't around he's probably a nice guy) and his denying the fans of excitement . I haven't been impressed at all in his last two fights both in terms of skill and enjoyment and feel he's become too much of a safety first fighter .

I'm gonna give a final prediction even though the fight could easily go so much differently , option number 4 and Cotto wins a split decision .
