    Hi,

Recently bought a 02 Corolla hatchback, just noticed that the power from the fan is very poor even when turned up to 4. Ive checked another corolla, same year, and the power is about three times as good.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Cheers

Time for a new pollen filter, I reckon.

Yeah, or for now, just remove the old filter.

    Here's how:
    Open the glovebox.
squeeze the sides or the glovebox towards each other, the glovebox should then hinge down to the floor.

You'll see a black rectangular panel (the same size as the side of a video casette) with a clip on either side, undo this panel, and the filter can be slid out.

Replace panel, and clip glovebox back in

Nice one, took out the filter and it was packed full of sh1t!
I hoovered it out and it seems to have increased the power a good bit, will buy a new one during the week.

    Thanks for the help lads!

interesting, our 02 corolla has the same problem. must have a look at the filter. thanks for the tips on how to do it... was gonna get a mechanic to look at it!

also, the lights around the air controls all stopped working recently - any chance related to the loss in power of the fan? do i just need to get new bulbs fitted to the controls, or could it be a fuse? everything else light sup fine (i.e. cigarette lighter, radio, window controls, etc)

    cheers
