Can you mix DOT3 and DOT4 brake fluid? Like can you top up the DOT3 fluid in a car with DOT4? Also can you replace the DOT3 in a car with DOT4 or do you always have to use DOT3. Thanks.

if you are stuck it would do no harm to top up your fluid with the higher spec dot4.
if you are changing the fluid (a task often neglected) then no problems.
only cars i know with strange fluid are rolls royce and some citroen models that have a mineral based fluid. put standard dot anything in them and you destroy all the hydraulic components.
