Au contraire, I've been taking most of my hols there the last few years. There is always so much happening in London, you could never be bored. Fantastic city.

    Hey,

I'm takin the girlfriend over next month too, also flying into stansted...

Can anyone reccommend a nice (cheap) hotel near enough to the city centre (or on good public transport, tube or something)?? I see a lot but will pretty much just be picking at random so a reccomendation would be great.

Thinkin of going to see a show in the westend and maybe take a trip in the eye - anyone reccomend anything else that good to see/do while there?

Can you buy the westend tickets there on the day? are they more expensive??

    thanks!! :)

Lived in London twice, cool city but a rat race all the same, nice for a long weekend break but not an extended holiday.

As a native Londoner it's a great city.

    Tails142.

I don't know what your budget it , but check out some of the travellodge type accom. There are two or three in the city ( ie not the west end ) which tend to be cheaper. Of course I tend not to stay in hotels because my family are still in the UK :)

There is a half price tkt stand in Leicester Square. DO NOT go to any of the numerous agencies around you will get fleeced. ( IMO ) . You could also check the box offices for returns on the day.

The London Eye is great , I was on it last month

Take a boat trip up from Westminster to Greenwich after going on the Eye. It's a great way to see things and Greenwich is wonderful. Climb up the hill to the observatory when you get there.

I can recommend Best Western Phoenix Hotel, 1-8 Kensington Gardens Square, in the Bayswater area. It's fairly nice and cheap. I looked at lots of London hotels on Tripadvisor but lots of them got awful reviews, but not this one.
