    Hi big_moe..
Am I right in assuming you have one of these? and if so what set up do you have, are you using a sky box? I'm trying to set up with a Pace skybox and an NTL cable. And am I right in thinking when I do the channell scan it will only pick up the cable channels and not the ones from the Sky box..I was trying to scan for Sky..but was not getting anything.
    cheers

no i don't have that one, i have a Pioneer. but i have a lot of experience working with them all!

the tuner is only an analogue tuner. so it will only pick up the ntl channels. you can set up a timer record for them as they are tuned onto the machine itself.

to record sky, use a scart cable from the sky box to the sony recorder. then select the correct input on the recorder (probably Line 2-In) and record away. the only draw back with recording from sky, is that you CANNOT change the channel on the sky box. i.e. you have to watch what you record.

to do a timer record, set up the recorder to come on and record at whatever time on the Line-In (or whatever one you use) then make sure the sky box is on the channel you want to record.

the reason for the issue with sky recording is that the sky box can only output one channel.

    Hi big_moe..
With the set up you describe here for me is it possible to record a sky channel while watching an NTL one and vice versa..It's just that the blurb that came with the recorder says this is possible (although it doesn't specifically mention sky)

once you watch the other channel thru the tv.

    e.g.

put sky sports 1 on sky box. record this thru your recorder. then change the channel on the tv to watch an NTL channel.

when recording NTL (that is tuned into the recorder) you can change the channel on the tv to another NTL channel or sky.
