Naval Reserve Boats

    Havent been near the naval reserve weekly training nights in 2 years except for sea going last year but i heard a rumour about a new boat being issued?

    Can anyone elaborate?

    ya i no the lads in the slua in cork have the bp 18's ,some ribs and the aoine na laoi or as i call it under the lee for good reason which wont be named

    the slua will never get new boats they,ll be second hand alrite or very old run down rnli boats, wud u leave mary quilty behind the wheel of a brand spanking new boat

    We will be doing well to hold on to what we have.
    A few years ago we were to get a big launch like the customs cutters but that plan died with the tiger.

    I don't think it is fair to mention people by name on an open forum like this the Mods should remove this post if the poster does not.


    The only time that boat was under the sea was when it was tied up by Naval Service pers not NSR.

    The last FOCNS had a plan to introduce one 50 foot boat for the NSR, which would be used for training crews in boarding small craft when not in use by the NSR. (The Port of Cork Tugs are currently frequently used for this purpose). He mentioned this in an An Cosantoir interview, shortly after his appointment.
    However the Current FOCNS has Ships as his priority, not boats.
