    Hey

Any one got any good tips on waht to wear for an interview.

Escpecially in this heat, my main consider is that I will have to travel for two hours on train to interview and I dont want to arrive all sweaty and uncomfortable.

It's probably best to still wear the suit. Wear a white shirt and travel with the tie off and the neck open. Carry the jacket.

A pair of suit trousers and a suitably light open-necked shirt is actually reasonably comfortable summer wear.

    Gender? It helps! ;)

I didn't even consider. Of all the 'what to wear' questions that have come up here I can't remember one where it was a woman.

Easier again though. A smart lightweight blouse and no tie to worry about...

Is that all! Where are those interviews on? :p

But back to the topic - it's still pretty easy to go down the formal route in this weather - just pick up a lightweight suit (M/F) no need for it to be pure new wool.. :)

That's odd! The few that I've ever looked up tend to be females as most men can stick with the old reliable suit.

Allow plenty of time. Nothing will make you sweat more than the possibility of being late, even if it's 20 degrees below.

You're probably right. All the ones I can remember off hand have been young guys wondering if they really have to wear the full suit.

I think the same advice generally applies anyway. Regardless of gender with a decent suit you'll keep most people happy (although some may prefer the 'just a blouse' option ;)).

    Silly me., female

I doubt the just blouse will go down well,
I want nothing too formal, just trying to get balance right

It's always possible to bring a suit carrier (they will hold women's suits too) and do a Superman job in the toilets.

    Good luck in the interview.

What's the vacancy? If it's anything office related, I don't see the problem with going formal. It's much better to be overdressed than underdressed for an interview.

better to go too formal than not formal enough. I would always wear a suit for an interview or even just a "do you want to come in for a chat about a job" type meeting. I look funny in trouser suits so I tend to wear a plain suit with a knee length skirt and a fitted jacket. In winter I wear a long sleeved blouse or very fine wool knit under the jacket or in summer a very simple fitted tee with a v-neck. I don't wear any jewellery because I tend to fiddle with it which I think could be distracting for the interviewers. I wear heels but not so high that I need to "teeter" into the room.
