    Remember that the below only calculates POSTAGE costs and NOT PACKAGING costs.

    First, calculate the cost in Hong Kong Dollars using:

    http://app1.hongkongpost.com/calc/eng/index.php

    Then convert to Euro using :

    http://www.xe.com/ucc/

    Roughly, the costs are :

    1kg=€20
    2kg=€29
    3kg=€38
    4kg=€46
    5kg=€55
    6kg=€64
    7kg=€73
    8kg=€82
    9kg=€89
    10kg=€96
    11kg=stop buying so much stuff

    So when RedWolf Airsoft quotes you €140 Postage & packing for a 5kg package, you can confidentely ask them 'WTF?' and point out the postage costs...Let's see them explain the €85 worth of packing.

    EDIT : Speedpost Insurance costs (In Hong Kong Dollars)

    For Items:
    Not exceeding $1,500 $30
    > $1,500 – $2,500 $40
    > $2,500 – $5,000 $60
    > $5,000 – $10,000 $100
    > $10,000– $20,000 $150
    > $20,000 – $30,000 $218
    > $30,000 – $40,000 $258
    > $40,000 – $50,000 $288

    Good post.

    Between this and your HRTA map the other day, I can see why your employer gave you such a large bonus - its obvious your time is spent productively ;)

    nice post rabbit, time to get onto redwolf and tell them to find a new packaging supplier so they can drop their p&p rates :D

    They just pocket the cash.

    i know, but technically they shouldn't be and we should really give them hassle over their postage rates if they are over twice what they should be

    Not that I wouldn't try it on with haggling on the P&P, of course, or that I'm defending the P&P extortion (so to speak), but you'll find out that it's just the usual eBay fees scam (buy it now for €0,01, P&P is €20, eBay fees apply to... €0,01 ;)) in an ecommerce context: I'll sell you that airsoft for cost or less than, and make a living from the 'packing' margin - or I'll sell you that airsoft with my mark up, and factor P&P at cost.

    Either way, you'd end paying the same.

    Now then [off topic]. Now that I've got my M4, or just as good as got it (gotta go and collect @ PO), who to get P&P-extorted by and, much more importantly - for what piece of kit? :D Not gonna have to "re-buy" the M4 and I've just earmarked a few €00's, quite fancy something 'classy' (à la ICS, CA or the like).

    They also calculate it on the size of the package too so dont be so hasty to presume they're running a scam.

    While that is true in many countries, including Ireland, it's different in Hong Kong. They still just go by weight there.

    Well my quote for a P90 TR, Computer charger and 2 high caps. The shipping was $80 which is only €60, which is about right according to your scale. But just remember if they ship it via an actual courier that price scale doesnt count for anything.
