Does anybody know what criteria the GAA need/want for new intercounty/city teams to be part of the league/championship?Would the GAA be open to increasing the amount of teams in the formats they have?

This follows on from my point that some provinces need more competition.Eg having a team like Rome or Paris in Munster like London and New York.I'd love to see a new team come in and shake things up.

Well i doubt very much rome or paris would either have the interest or the resourses to have a gaa team. The only reason London and New Yoke have teams is because of all the people who emigrated, and look at the bad state that NY Gaa is at the moment with all the people returning.

What we need is real help to teams like clare tipp and waterford. They need more games in the year. This is why i think Tommy Murphy cup is good idea although its winners need more than a trip to America or whatever.

Well heres the funny thing, there is a big Irish community in Rome and Prague and the issue of funding or sponsorship could push the boat out.If I moved to Rome,I'd be more than happy to spear-head the promotion of the game and push for an inter-county team and who knows maybe represent that team which would be a dream.

I think that thinking outside the box ie Ireland :) could help provinces like Munster.Waterford,Clare and Tipp could play these teams and the competitive state of football would be raised.

Is it the case that there has to be league and cup structure and a ground thats up to GAA standards or are there any other requirements. Can you imagine Rome vs Meath in a qualifier or Prague vs Donegal or Paris vs Clare :D

Yes, because London and New York really shake things up in the Championship every year ;)

I wasn't aware that they even provided competition. An exhibition match but that's about it.

I'd travel to Prague for that. :)

New teams wouldn't necessarily "shake things up". The existing teams need more exposure.

Lemlin, you are quite right about those exhibition matches although London ran Leitrim close enough.I just think that Munster football is all too predictable.Don't get me wrong,I love watching Kerry-Cork matches but its like the GAA are going through the formality of having fixtures like Kerry v Waterford and Cork v Tipp.Unless Kerry meet Cork in the earlier stages, its always going to be a Cork-Kerry final.

Limerick were a thorn in Kerrys side on a number of occasions and could have beaten them two or three times in recent years but that was the last time any other county posed a threat to the big two.

I think looking in places with a big Irish community is a feasible idea.It would be a long term solution.Ok,you'd hardly expect Rome or Paris to break through in year 1 but give a team 5-6 years and they can come a long way if they have the resources and the funding.

I think there would be enough interest but the only problem is that the game hasn't been promoted or advertised in these places. You could have a mix of Irish and locals playing gaelic football.

Yes,I'd definitely travel to see Dublin vs Paris/Rome/Prague/Berlin :D
