Definitely the Gold Coast if you want to be near the WSOP. The Excalibur is on the strip but at the sh1tty end and a $10 taxi drive from the Rio. The Gold Kip is within walking distance.

If you can splash a bit more cash then Obviously Ceasers/Wynn/Bellagio. Paris is also a good location/hotel. I am staying Ballys while there, but the Imperial Palace is a good location as well and cheapish, but a kip I hear.

If being close to the strip is preferential then I would choose the following in order: Bellagio/Caesars/Wynn/MGM/Mirage/New York/Paris/Flamingo/Venetian/Ballys/Imperial Palace/

If being close to the Rio is important then I would go with this order:
    Palms/Bellagio/Caesars/Rio/Gold Coast/Mirage/Paris/Flamingo/Venetian/Ballys/Imperial Palace/

ps: if you are playing the main event, then staying in the Rio is essential for the duration of the event. But get out of there as soon as you get knocked out:)

We stayed in Luxor, New York New York and Rio. I'd go for Rio as all the rooms are suites, deadly nightclub (Voodoo) on the roof also....what a view! Its fairly cheap during the week (as all resorts are), but is kinda pricey at the weekend. We hit the downtown area at the weekend....not as glamourous as the strip, but way cheaper and some cool casinos there too (won $100 in one Black Jack sitting).

Doesn't the Rio have a special rate for players in the main event? Ceasers, Ballys, Hurrahs (and anything within walking distance of these) have free buses to the Rio. Very regular and only 10 minutes each way. Made extensive use of them last year.

Was meant to be heading over with a couple of mates but thats not happening now. Still want to go so i'll probably head over on my own. Its not as if i wont bump into someone i know over there! Looking to go the 5th for the party in the Tilted Kilt and either stay for 7 or 10 days.

Looking at a few deals and it seems to be cheaper to book flights and accom. seperately. I've looked at ebooker.com, vegas.com and lastminute.com aswel and general sites all over the place.

Anyone got any other reputable sites i should look at? Also checking each hotels own site to see whats on offer. Cheers

I booked my hotel on the standard vegas type site, i4vegas.com, seemed decent enough. Gold Coast can still be got for $60ish a night if you want close to the Rio but not that upmarket.

Sites like skyscanner.com and sidestep.com might be useful for flights, but I haven't checked there.

Cheers Dom. I'll check them out now. I wont be playing the ME unless i win a ticket in a satellite over there so being close to the Rio isnt that important. As far as upmarket goes, as long as i have somehwere to shower and rest my eyes after a few 40 hour sessions i dont mind!
