    Is it possible to get a ATA-6 (I think) to usb lead so I can recover data from a hard drive (IBM Thinkpad T21)

    Not that I know of but you can use a hard drive enclosure to get the data.

    Yeah but I didn't want to buy a full enclosure

    It would be easier to get an enclosure, they are about 20 euro in Peats.
