I'm looking to start off in Airsoft, and as I'm a Stargate Fan, a P90 would be extremely cool for me. A quick Google shows a wealth of people selling P90's, but the prices vary wildly. I'm assuming that's down to build quality and mechanisms? Is gas, or battery power preferrable? I'm more of an electricity guy myself I have to admit. Any recommended resellers/links?

as far as i know there is only one real company building p90's...and that is a company called tokyo marui. i believe there are some clones...but if you want reliability TM is yer man...

harekin (the user) here has a p90 and swears by it...there is also a thread on the vests etc for carrying the mags...u may want to look at that.

    good luck to you...

As Fallschirmjaeger says the Tokyo Marui P90 is the only good one at the moment. There is a very cheap clone that's a piece of junk. There have been rumours that a new clone P90 may be in the works now that the version 6 gearbox has been cloned properly (CYMA Thompson) but they are unconfirmed and even if true it''ll be many months away.

You're better off with Tokyo Marui for your first AEG anyway, much less chance of it breaking down :)

I recommend www.uncompany.com Go to the AEG section and select Tokyo Marui with battery and charger, everything you need in one package at a good price and UNcompany's shipping costs are quite good. They currently have both version TM P90's in stock.

Just thought i'd chime in on this, have the TM p90 myself, expensive but a great aeg and well worth the money.

As others have said, there are two companies making p90s Tokyo Marui (TM) and Well/Wellfire, the original version of the well p90 was a terrible design, fired at a pitiful fps and had a gravity fed magazine (much like a hopper) which reportedly jammed an awful lot, i've heard that they've brought out a new version now which has a proper magazine (with a spring to actually push the bb's down) but other than that i've no idea if it's any good, although people aren't exactly raving about it, so odds are its not much better than the previous version from well.

the TM version is great, i got mine from redwolfairsoft.com with the 325fps upgrade, it fires at 328fps w/ 0.2g bbs (1 Joule), which is exactly the legal limit. The upgrade also came with a 9.6v battery (standard is 8.4v), this requires a bit of plastic to be cut out on the inside of the battery compartment but makes no difference to the structural strength of the gun, the 9.6v battery makes the rate of fire better, with mine firing at 17 rounds per second, haven't tested it on 8.4v, but i think it's about 13rps.

I got the p90tr (triple rail) version which doesn't have the built in sight, but does have three rails for accessories, this also comes with a socom-style silencer, which actually does supress the sound a decent amount.

The only bad thing i can say about the p90 is the mags, the lo-cap (68 round) mags are great and look great with the dummy rounds in them, but the hi-caps (300 round) can be a little tempermental, they need a drop of silicone oil in them every now and again and i tend to only fill them to about 90% capacity as i find they jam too easily otherwise, but generally once you take care of them they are fine.

Edit: also the sg-1 slings are great, but a little expensive, however you can sling them just fine with a 3-point sling doubled over to become a 2-point sling, although you could probably just buy a 2-point, i did it this way because i already had the 3-point. i do intend to have a custom sg-1 sling soon enough though.... now if i can just find an airsoft Zat...hmmmm

also, if you want an sg-1 style vest, i have a link here somewhere to the one i have, it's reasonably similar to the one's they use and decent quality too
