Ive been looking into getting Setanta Sports recently but like many dont want to be locked into a 12 month contract.
However if you sign up before the 17th of June you pay for 1 month and get 2 free with NO 12 MONTH CONTRACT.

    http://gb.setanta.tv/
I just rang up and the saleswoman confirmed the deal to me,its available in ROI .
So €18 for 3 months and 30 days notice of cancellation.
    Nice one.

Sorry for a stupid question , but by the 30 day cancellation thing , that would mean you cancel just before the end of the second month if you don't want to subscribe for the year ?

As far as I am aware once the 3 months are up its a rolling monthly contract then,no commitment beyond 30 days at a time.

dont mean to piggyback this tread ... but is the setanta pack only available using say, sky or ntl? Can it be got as a stand alone thing?

Sorry , not exactly on this thread, but I am sure I noticed on Setanta website that Chorus punters can get the Setanta pack for €10 per month and Sky people will pay €18. The packs included golf etc... If this is a fact, surely something has to give. Some sky punters wud be tempted by that price. Surely Sky may have to strike a deal with Setanta to offer Setanta Sports 1,2 Setanta sports Ireland and the golf channel in a more competitive package to their customers?(maybe €10 per month,no contract) People who do not want racing channels, nasn and Celtic and Rangers tv shud get this cheaper option. (After all who would want both Celtic and Rangers TV!!!)

Rang Setanta and they said to avail of the offer I'd have to subscribe online .
Filled everything out online and got:

'We are sorry but we cannot process your subscription request on-line.

Please call the following customer service number to subscribe.'

There wasn't even a following customer service number(although it would have presumely put me back to where I rang)

I also don't want to get locked into a 12 month contract but at the moment it seems the only option is all or nothing .

I rang yesterday and the woman did it over the phone for me.
I asked her twice if i could avail of the offer and she said yes.
They better not try anything funny or I wont be long sorting them out.

I suppose it could be one of two things , the number I tried may have been for Setanta in the UK , or it was late enough(almost 11) and they might have been going home soon and didn't want to go to the bother .

I rang 0818 203040 , however looking at Setanta Ireland on my epg it gives 0818 71999 and 08700 506970 as numbers .

I'd hope to have this sorted by Saturday as Setanta are showing the boxing(Miguel Cotto v Zab Judah) on Saturday night/Sunday morning .

When you rang, did they take a once off payment(visa) of €18 euro for the 3 months..If its not a direct debit , why do you need to give 30 day notification to cancel, as they wont have have permission to take from your account or do they???

I phoned them on this also and my understandig was that you are setting up a direct debit so unless you do cancel 30 days before your 3 months trial is up they will then start taking the €18 per month. This is the usual trick with these kinds of offers they are relying on you forgetting/not bothering to cancel after the 3 month trial period.

I also asked what the situation was regarding multi room and they said that this is €5 per month for each additional box and this is not included in the offer i.e. you don't get 2 months free for the second box. So for me it would cost €33 for three months (€18 for 1 month + 2 months free for main box and 3*€5 for second box).

They also indicated to me that I could sign up over the phone and they would wave the €7 registration fee that applies normally when registering by phone (but not when registering online) since I told them I was getting an error message when trying to register online.

The big difference with this offer is as well as getting the 2 months free you are also not committed to at least 12 months subscription you can cancel at any time by just giving 30 days notice.

What else is on Setanta over the next month or two (depending when the SPL starts) to avail of the offer ?

    Thanks.

    Anybody got any advice.

Considering cancelling my subscription from Setanta but have read all the negative comments on how they try to screw you !!

Anybody with a story or some advice on the best way to do it (seems to cancel the DD and email them is the best!!).

My advice is not to dig up old threads, and registered mail to HQ works better than email.
