Sky Viewing Card Replacement Experience!

    Guys,

As people may have noticed by a couple of threads in the last two days I have just replaced my main digibox.Installed it last night and works perfect.
Problem was that a message came up saying that there was a "fault with the viewing card" and it could not be recognised by the box.I phoned Sky last night and the Scots lass who was most helpful matched up the card to the box etc. The same message still came up after this was done. She then asked me for software version and said it needed upgrading. We did that but before she did it she said the card was probably faulty and ordered another one.Lo and behold after the upgrade the card worked perfect but had been cancelled:-(This box had not been used since the old type cards were in use.
I now have no channels which means ,no Estonia v England, no cricket,no Big brother etc for up to a week. What I can't understand is why they will not REACTIVATE the card I have and when the other card arrives I can send it back or scrap it. You still have to activate the new card anyway when it arrives. Anyone had any dealing like this and know if they can be persuaded!!

Only person happy about this is "her indoors" who sees a window of opportunity for me to do some chores :-(

I still fail to see a problem here .... ;)

Id assume that cards cannot be re-activated to prevent people using two of the same card in two separate boxes.

What I basically want is the card I have in my possession reactivated and the card that will be here next week never activated. I cannot understand their issue

    They won't do that.
It was a mistake that they agreed to send a new card without waiting 24hrs and doing forced SW update..

An unused card can take that long to re-activate.

But once they agree to send a new card, quite reasonably they'll never reactivate the old one.

    It's unfortunate.

Cheers! At least the new card shud be on the way and will beat potential UK Postal strike!
