Best spoof movie?

I love spoof movies, esecially the old ones. I'd be cut up on Airplane! or Top Secret! though I'm not taking anything away from the other choices as they all have geniunely made me laugh. Which do you think is the best one? I'm gonna go with Top Secret!, so many gems in that movie..............though there is Naked Gun..........bah!!

top secret def a top spoof movie, but i feel it sags a little towards the end as if they used all the best jokes up too soon - for a gag-per-minute ratio, there is no better than airplane (and to a lesser extent "airplane 2 - the sequel" !!)

Airplane 2 was okay, though the bit where a guy is tuning in what looks like a TV on a wall so he can talk to William Shatner and when he's done Shatner opens the wall like a door and walks off.

You're right about Top Secret (though the underwater fight scene is good) but for the mo' I choose it cuz it makes me laugh so hard and I've seen Airplane! to death that the jokes have lost their value for now. I'll return to it when I'm ready!

well i voted for airplane, but it was a very tough call....hot shots & spaceballs were both genius.

I'd definitely have to add Young Frankenstein to that list. One of the funniest films I've ever seen. But of the ones listed, Airplane will always be the king. It's just comic genius.

Top Secret gets my vote, was a great movie with characters like Deja Vu and Chocolate Moose! I have to see that one again.

I did like both Hot Shots and the naked gun trio but they weren't as good.

Can't believe I'm the first one to vote for Hot Shots!! I didn't even have to think twice about it. Absolute legend of a film. Charlie Sheen is the best actor in this genre I reckon.

Where is the Life Aquatic? Action spoof crossed with indie sensibilities made for the funniest action sequences in the history of cinema (Bill Murray taking on a boat of Pirates with a pistol is genius incarnate).
Also, Team America hits a f**kload of genres right on the head with spot on parodies (although they do ruin things a little with idiotic p***y and d**k jokes).

But of the ones given... I will choose..... Airplane.

I was cut up on what to leave in on the poll, Loaded Weapon, Young Frankenstein, Spy Hard, etc

As for Spinal Tap, legend movie but I wanted the poll more-so for typical spoof than it's mockumentary piss-take. Damn, I want to watch that stroke of genius again!

I'm torn here - Blazing Saddles is probably my favourite comedy film ever, but I think if I had to pick a film on pure spoofiness I'd go for Don't Be A Menace - between the opening sequence, the "I'm gonna get me a job" speech and the "Do we got a problem?" scene I just couldn't stop laughing at that film. Excellent stuff.

I also love Airplane and Blazing Saddles, but I'll vote for Spaceballs since that's a TRUE spoof, not a spoof of some film I've never seen or heard of.

I'd also recommend Fatal Instinct (1993 one), a spoof of Basic Instinct, The Hot Spot and Body Heat, those kind of films.

Yep, both of these should be in the poll. Love the courtroom scene in Fatal Instinct (Almost called it Basic Attraction!) and pretty much every second of Loaded "Get your s**t together, that's Becker, 403" Weapon!

Top Secret would get my vote... it's a far more solid film than most spoof movies and it's got some incredibly obscure moments and brilliant puns throughout.

Out of more modern films I was actually surprised at how good Not Another Teen Movie was as I was expecting it to be atrocious, but I caught it on TV one night and it was pretty damn funny.

Spoof or parody? the former is usually a stupid version of the latter.

Anyway I'll go for Young Frankenstein brilliant in every respect even down the the art design and set decoration which used some of the original Universal 1931-1935 movies sets/props.

But the thing about spoof movies is that when you see them first there brill, but the second time around you ask yourself..what was i laughing at??

I wouldn't say Spinal Tap is a spoof movie.

Airplane! is the obvious choice here. I watched Spaceballs not too long ago and was absolutely appalled by how unfunny it was.

Spaceballs I thought was actually pretty unfunny - in fact it was downright crap, filled with completely lame jokes.

Favourites - Loaded Weapon, Hot Shots, Naked Gun, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, Don't be a Menace....cont., and my personal favourite, Mafia, what a brilliant movie.

I watched Epic Movie today, and while the first few minutes were pathetic I thought the movie in general was fairly amusing, certainly alot better then both Date Movie and the slamming it got....the bit in Willy Wonkas factory was brilliant...That's not a chocolate river, it's the sewerage line...:D

Not even deserving to be in the same list as the movies above though, definitely.

edit: As above, can't believe I forgot Austin Powers. Excellent movies. Those sort of gut busters are rare today in any comedy films...
