I saw this on Photographers.ie and thought I'd share it. Sad to see them go.

Slatterys of O'Connell Street will cease trading to both the public and trade customers on 23rd June 2007 due to impending development of the "Carlton" site - where they have been located since 1946.

Make that 977 ... It's even more out of date than you think :) There's references to special offers available until December 1996!

the website is so old, they even spelled things funny in those days:

    "Photgraphic Headquaters
    52 Upper O'Connel St. "

I didn't realise the internet was around in 1936.
Fair play to them ,they must have been the only people in ireland with a computer back then.:)

I was sauntering down O'connell one day and spied a big mother of a white lens in their window. I was broke but had to have a look anyway. It was a 500 4.5,used going for 1700 punts. I couldn't believe or afford it.I still kick myself when I think of it, should have begged, stole or borrowed the money,of course, the lens could have been a dud, as in, on it's last legs, who's to know.

    ah yes the mid ninties!!
those prices were the reason i didn't have much going on in photography.

I guess their web site might have been an indication of how good the business was eh?
    ;)

Got my first SLR in there in 2000, with some of my Y2K money. Sorry to see them go, but probably they are too old-school for today's market. Bit like Frawley's really.

Good point about the clearance sale. They do mostly Nikon, don't they?
