    Hi all,
i have just saw the chupasart website and was wondering if anyone knows whether or not 65 euro has to be paid every month or can you pay by the class,
i would love to take it up but as i would not make training 3 times a week being able to pay by the class would help,

also does anybody know anything about the wing tsun training in blanchardstown and do they recommend it,

Thanks in advance for any replies.

99% certain that you need to pay by the month. Paddy posts on here though, so he'll confirm.

€65 a month and you're looking for an even better deal? I've nothing to do with Chupasart, but I do run a sanshou gym. Beelieve it or not our rents as instructors are fixed, not dependant on
how many turn up. I've had someone ask me a similar question, I found it a bit insulting, especially concidering the cost of an average night out in this city! Do you think we're a state-funded charity?
If you can't put aside even €65 a month then obviously you do not value what you are doing and frankly you do not deserve the time of a good instructor.

    Thats a little harsh.

Maybe the OP only has time for one class per and is simply enquiring is this possible. You sound as if people should feel privledged to train with you, it should be the reverse and you are privledged that your students give up their time and money to train under you.

And with an answer like that you wouldnt entice to many to come and train
    with you!!

    Hi niall,
i was not trying to insult anyone and never would.
i have trained with some of the best martial artists in this country when i studied tkd and kickboxing people such as brendan o toole and ilija salerno
so i have a lot of respect for the time and effort people put into martial arts in
    this country,
i have also trained in at least two clubs where people can pay by the month or by the class obviously paying by the month working out cheaper,
as i work shift work i could never make training three times a week some weeks only once,
i also have a mortgage to pay a car to run and two children to raise so i dont have 65 euro to throw around,
hopefully this makes my question a little clearer and i apologise if you took offence by my original question.

I can see both sides of the pay-per-month argument but I think Niall's answer sounded a little harsh. I'm guessing he didn't intend that.

mac76, wing tsun and muay thai are wildly different. If you can make the commitment train with Padd Clint out in Chupasart, you won't be disappointed when you see the results!

Way OTT. With a wife, two kids, a large mortgage and one income I struggle to pay MT tuition fees, and they are (thankfully) very low where I train. Also, who's to say he has the time to go any more than once a week? At that rate it'd be 16 euro odd a class. Paying monthly does not suit everyone (though I understand the perspective of the gym owner / runner too, needing to know what their income will be).

edit: mac76, I'd echo colm's recommendation to give it a lash in Chupasart if you live near it. Do you?

On the general topic, why not charge a monthly fee of X plus Y per class. In this case say 40 per month and a fiver per class...

I dont like Niall's tone though I can appreciate his point. 65 Euro for a month is less then one of those self-service yuppie gyms where you dont even have an instructor.

there is no 'pay per class' option at Chupasart and to be honest if you cannot train at least twice per week i wouldnt waste your time. dont mean to sound harsh but imo training once per week in something like thai or bjj etc is going to lead to negligible results. you've lost any 'gain' by the time your next class comes around. good luck with your training :)

Wow Mr.Niceguy and what side of the bed did YOU fall out of this morning.

OP, as SBS IRE. said, you really should try make it X3 per week for optimum results. However if your time or money is an issue try at least X2 per week. If your only making class once a week as a beginner you'll get no where.

Re. Blanch, the chap running at club posts here also but right now I can't remember his user/board name.

Btw, a part time Martial Arts club will take payment as you attend class.

Hope you find the club your looking for.

There ya go OP you won't get much fairer than that.

And at least Niall has given some people an insight into the difficulties experienced in running a club.

Its easy for the vast majority of us to just show up, get our workout out of the way and leave without fully appricating the efforts put in behind the scenes, and mostly (I suspect) all without making a penny personally (coaches).

No bother niall to be honest i didnt even know john ran the gym as his full time job,
and devore is spot on the prices are fairly reasonable when compared to the price of some gyms when you dont even have your own personal trainer.

    Hi mac

My Wing Tsun class in Blanchardstown is actually full at the moment but I might run a 12 week beginners course from September to November/December so if you are interested you can give me a shout then on 086-3989345. We also have a sister club in Molesworth Hall behind St. Annes Church on Dawson Street with classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays if you would like to train in Wing Tsun sooner.

I would also recommend Muay Thai/Thai Boxing with Paddy or Bridgestone. I only did 13 classes but really enjoyed it and hope to get back to it soon. Try both arts and choose the one you like best. (Or do both):)

    Regards,

    Michael.
