Playing in a live event with 30 players for Pool of €5000

    blinds 100/200 and I have aprox. 7,500

About 25left and I receive QQ next to BB.
two limpers and rest fold to me. I make it 1000 and second limper calls.

    Flop, 2, 7, 10
I push and get called with Q10. Nice double for me!
    Stack: 16k

The next had I get QQ again, lol
Everyone limps for 200 but I make it 2k
All fold so I show the cards

    Hand #3
    Stack: 17k
Pocket Qs third time in a row. one limper and im mid-div

I push and BB calls with KK. he has 11k. Flop has an A.
Both of us miss nd my tournament is almost over. My stack: 5k-6k

    Is this unfortunate or stupid?

well i dont get why u raised to 1k the first time, 2k the second and then all in the last time.... massive raise...

just two things, first off i wouldnt show the queens the second time... i dont agree with showing hands most of the time
and secondly, i dont dislike the move at all... i mean they are going to think you're stealing with an okay hand..
noone will put you on queens again so you will get paid off with a lower pair here too... cant see much wrong with it, plus when you're on a roll i find it really tough to lay down a big hand

ok i understand the logic of saying that pushing here is stupid but i have been in positions be4 in tourneys where i have made massive overbets like this.

example is ace q on the button blinds 100-200 4 limpers and i push for 6 k as i know that the players that limped into the pot are poor and will call with a hand like ace 10 or ace jack which i am dominating.Do people not rate this play at all and is it just stupid doing this?

thats totally different, your hand isnt as strong, its only 30 bb and there are already 6 in the pot, if you raise and miss you will be ****ed, etc etc

your betting 17k to win 500

peoples range for calling this bet are A-A and K-K, nothing else, its sick, sick and wrong

The only person who will with lower pair will be a short-stack or some with two over cards.

Most likely, no one will call and you will win the Big blinds or someone will call and have you spanked, or at best your a coin flip.

i find it laughable u see nothing wrong with a push of 17k to win a pot with one limper when the blinds are 100/200:eek: .......llyod summed it up actually LOL

to the OP y wud u push??? its a horrible over bet and believe me no matter how much they think ur stealin ur really not gonna b called by a worse hand unless ur playin a CPT event

i just dont get the play, do u want action or not??

fortunate that you got QQ so many times!!

unfortunate that you ran into Kings

With a bit more sense you could easily avoid throwning in all them chips preflop

BB was playing very agg which was v funny. He had made plenty of mistakes which he could have avoided. He never plays like that, always has to look at a flop before playing. With four people to act after me he was the largest stack. (11k) No one else had more then 8k or 9k. I wanted a caller but not KK, lol.

    Anyway Ive learned my mistake.

It is actually +EV with respect to chips (see Sklansky-Chubukov numbers) depending on the range of the limper, but certianly not the best play as it is almost certainly -EV with respect to the tourney.

Is there a purpose for this thread?? I'll move it to the BB thread very soon I'd think...
