Does everyone get councillor or TD to represent them in planning apps?

Hi there - am in Clare have applied for pp & wondered what the consences is on this? I hate the thoughts of crawling to a politician, would prefer to get pp fair & square but everyone says we're mad to do it this way esp as it's in an area where planning is very difficult to get right now. What do you reckon do we ring up a td or councillor & what do you say?!

Sickening as you may find it, unfortunately this is the way most rural planning applications work.

The planners can be very pickey in rural situations especially around the dublin commuter counties (with some justification considering some of the abortions that are built nationwide). However while the planners can recommend a refusal of an application it will still have to be signed off by the County manager and the council who have the power to overturn it.

What your local TD or councillor will generally do is give the county manager or director of planning a call and check out the progress and if it's going pear shaped can put some pressure on to influsnce the decision. The bottom line is it won't do any harm to get these people involved and may do some good.

All legal and above board but i need a shower now.

You have posted this already in this forum. What are you expecting - double the amount of replies.

I will give you a yellow card this time. Why I dont know as you should really be banned for breach of the charter. If smashey feels like taking a sterner course of action then I am with him all the way. Common sense alone would tell you that theres no need to post a question twice
