    Hi Folks,
    Can I use my D70s's battery in a D80?

    Cheers,
    Steve.

The D70 uses the EN-EL3 type and the D80 uses the EN-EL3e type, which are different, apparently.

There's an extra contact (in between where the two are on the older 'a' battery) on the newer 'e' version to provide better battery condition information to the camera. It was brought out when the D200 was brought out IIRC. Also there's a slightly different notch on the bottom of the battery, next to the contacts, which I have heard prevents the older version being used in the D200. Don't know whether this applies to the D80 or not.

Doing it the other way around is fine .. i.e. using an 'e' battery in a D70(s), I have two for my D70s. In fact it's getting difficult to find the old 'a' batteries in the shops any more.

    Bloody 'marketing'.

Like Canon's 350 & 400 taking different batteries from every other Canon out there.

The manual very specifically warns to use the en-el3e only.....
