Lidl Satellite Dish

I've a lidl satellite system and it works quite well the one that was sold last August, the only problem i'm having is that after a good gust of wind it:

    1) Make the channels impossible to watch as they go all funny

    2) I have go out the next day and readjust the satellite dish, as its facing down towards the ground, and refind Astra 2 and then make sure that I've all the channels.

The slighest movement of the dish when I tighten the nuts and I've lost some channels and the others are not properly tunned in and flicker on and off so I've to repeat the process over and over again until I've all the channels on a good strength.

Is there an easier way or is this typical of a lidl satellite system and FTA?

    Thanks

I'm afraid the quality of this dish is not great so this happens often.

One of the lads I work with has the same problem. Would it be an idea to invest in a proper metal dish? I'm sure your LNB will work fine, probaly cost you about €90 all in, but worth it to save all that hassle. The site Tony has linked at the bottom of his message seems to be very reasonable and no, before you ask, I'm not his cousin/uncle/brother/buddy! :D

    www.satellite.ie Site?

Which would be the best dish to go for the 60cm or the 80cm?

Glad to hear its not just me who's having problems withn this system

    Is this the 60cm dish?
If so it probably has just one bolt to tighten it where the dish meets the bracket.
    I had the same problem.
I set the dish correctly on a clam day.
Drilled two holes through the metal circle ( where the tightening bolt is) and into the plastic.
I then screwed in self tapping screws. Hasent moved since and there has been some strong winds since.
I also use a 80cm motorised, so the smaller lidl dish is good if the wife wants to watch bbc/utv while I off on another sat.

I also have that Lidl dish and suffered with the same problem as you until one day the wind actually blew the dish off the wall, breaking the bracket.

All I did was resolder the bracket but made the arm much shorter. Haven't had a problem since. :)

Go buy yourself a proper triax dish and decent wall bracket and save yourself all the time fixing the blasted thing as costs more than its worth in time alone. I had cheap dish and since I got the triax, not a minutes trouble with all the storms

I tighten the bolts slightly when I'm locked on the satellite but the dish moves slighty while I'm tightening the bolts with a spanner and then I've lost the reception and have to start again.

    The dish is 80cm.

Would a proper 80cm triax dish have the same problems, what's the advantage over the lidl dish?

The advantage is better construction, when you tighten the bolts you need to do it evenly on both sides so you do not alter its position, its a lot easier if you have a meter inline and can see what effect it has on signal level when tightening

A 60cm Triax dish should do. It'll catch less wind than the 80cm and will be sufficient for Astra 2/Eurobird.
