Sound problems

Hi I am having a problem with my sound I have my computer hooked up to the Tv using a DVI cable and i also have 2 cables to carry the sound but latley the sound is only working through the right hand speakers on the TV. any suggestions?

are the speaker cables loose?
is it all audio? - dvd/mp3/divx etc or just one type of file...
check all your codecs and drivers are up to date.
