unorthodox printing query

Someone told me that you could get photographs printed on "anything". I'm wanting to test this not because I'm awkward per se but because...

In another life, the one outside flickr and boards.ie photography, I swim. I do some technique training with a float (yukky, yukky, yukky, but it's paying benefits in terms of improvements for me). I've tried motivating myself with a water proof MP3 player but the headphones are reluctant to stay in place and anyway you have to deafen yourself to be able to hear anything. So I've been thinking that a good motivational thing would be to have a motivational something or other on my float. Currently I use the pool floats which are a bit uhem head swellingly red and yellow with a big IV embossed on them. I'd like to get one of my kite or surf photographs printed on the float. Obviously I'd need it to be waterproof.

Okay, so I'm completely mad but does anyone know if there is any printer which might be intrigued enough by such a request to give it a shot without bankrupting me? I've googled and am coming up with a load of equestrian stuff which isn't quite what I had in mind.

Edit: duh in modern non 1980s language I mean kickboard. Argghh

Print it regularly, and get some adhesive transparent plastic book covering stuff to stick it to the float?

It's hardly ideal, but it would be cheap

You could get some of the iron-on transfers you can get for inkjet printers.

Print whatever, iron onto cotton, wrap the float in that?

Silkscreen printing is the method used to get images onto unusual things such as a swimming float (or water wings :D ).
It's fairly cheap these days, although I'm not so sure cheap would be a word you might use if you're only getting one copy. Grab the golden pages and make a few calls to a few screen printing companies.
